We work hard to make sure every client is happy with the results we deliver. But we also know that things don’t always go to plan, and sometimes a refund is the fairest outcome. This Refund Policy explains exactly when refunds apply, how to request one, and how long they take to process. It covers all services offered by The Beard Guy LLC.
Our Refund Principles
We approach refunds with three simple principles:
- Fair to both sides. You pay for work delivered; we don’t charge for work we haven’t done.
- Transparent from day one. Before any project begins, you’ll know exactly what is and isn’t refundable.
- Resolved through conversation first. Most issues are fixable. We’d rather talk it through and make it right than end the relationship early.
This policy sits alongside our Terms of Service. Where a specific project proposal or service agreement includes different refund terms, that document will take precedence.
Custom Web Design & Development
Custom design projects are billed in milestones, typically a 50% deposit before work begins and a 50% balance on completion. Refund rules for design work are as follows:
Before Work Begins
If you cancel before we have started any design or development work, we will refund 100% of your deposit, minus any non-refundable third-party fees already paid on your behalf (domain registration, premium theme licenses, etc.).
After Work Has Begun
Once design concepts, wireframes, or development work has begun, the deposit is non-refundable because it reflects work already invested in your project. If you cancel mid-project, you will be invoiced for any work completed beyond the deposit, and we will deliver the work-in-progress files to you.
After Final Delivery
Once the final website has been delivered, approved, and handed over, the project fee is non-refundable. Any bugs in the delivered work are covered by our 30-day warranty at no charge.
If you’re unhappy with the direction of a design, speak to us before requesting a refund. Revisions are built into every project, and most concerns can be fixed without ending the engagement.
Managed WordPress Hosting
All managed hosting plans come with a 7-day money-back guarantee. If you decide hosting isn’t the right fit within the first 7 days of signup, we will refund the full amount you paid — no questions asked.
After the First 7 Days
- Monthly plans: No refunds for the current billing month after day 7, but you can cancel anytime to prevent the next charge.
- Annual plans: Pro-rata refunds for unused months, minus a small administrative fee to cover setup and payment processing costs.
What’s Always Refundable
If we experience a service failure that breaches the uptime guarantee in your plan and cannot be resolved within a reasonable timeframe, you’re entitled to a credit or refund equal to the affected service period.
Speed Optimization Services
Our speed optimization service is backed by a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Here’s how it works:
- Before starting, we run a full assessment to confirm we can deliver meaningful improvements.
- If, after completing the optimization, we haven’t achieved measurable improvements in your Google PageSpeed scores and load times, we will either continue working at no extra cost until we do, or refund your payment in full.
- “Measurable improvement” means a visible, quantifiable increase in PageSpeed scores (desktop and mobile) and a reduction in key Core Web Vitals metrics (LCP, INP, CLS).
We have never issued a refund under this guarantee because we only accept projects we’re confident we can deliver on.
SEO Services
SEO is a long-term investment, and ranking results depend on factors outside anyone’s control — Google’s algorithms, competitor activity, market conditions. For that reason:
- We do not refund based on ranking outcomes. No honest SEO provider can guarantee specific rankings, and we won’t pretend otherwise.
- We do refund for unused work. If you cancel a monthly SEO retainer, you’re refunded pro-rata for any work not yet performed in the current billing cycle.
- One-time SEO audits and projects are refundable in full if cancelled before work begins. Once the audit or project has started, it becomes non-refundable because of the upfront work involved.
What we do commit to is best-practice execution: keyword research, on-page optimization, technical audits, content, and link-building — all delivered to the standards agreed in your proposal. If we fall short on the work itself, we’ll make it right.
WordPress Malware Removal
Malware removal is an emergency service. Once engaged, we typically begin work within hours — scanning, cleaning infected files, hardening security, and restoring your site. Because of the immediate, intensive nature of this work:
- Malware removal fees are non-refundable once we’ve accepted the job and started work.
- If we’re unable to fully clean and restore your site — an extremely rare situation — we will work with you to find an alternative solution, including restoring from backups or migrating to a clean environment at no additional cost.
- If you contact us but decide not to proceed before we begin work, no fee has been charged, so no refund is needed.
Website Management & Maintenance Plans
Ongoing management plans follow the same structure as hosting:
- 7-day full refund on your first billing period if the service isn’t a good fit.
- Monthly plans can be cancelled anytime with 30 days’ notice — no further charges apply.
- Annual plans are refundable pro-rata for unused months after the first 7 days, minus an administrative fee.
- Completed one-off work included in your plan (for example, a plugin installation or a content update already delivered) is not refundable.
How to Request a Refund
Requesting a refund is straightforward. Here’s the process:

We Review
We’ll review your request against this policy within 2 business days.
Refund Issued
Approved refunds are processed via the original payment method.
We will always reply with a clear explanation of our decision, and if the refund is only partial, we’ll break down exactly how it was calculated.
Processing Times & Method
Once a refund is approved:
- Credit/debit card payments — typically refunded within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank.
- PayPal — usually credited within 1 to 3 business days.
- Bank transfer / Wise — processed within 3 to 5 business days.
Refunds are always issued through the original payment method. Payment processor fees that are non-refundable (such as some PayPal or Stripe fees) may be deducted from the refund amount. We do not issue cash or cryptocurrency refunds.
Chargebacks & Disputes
Please contact us before initiating a chargeback with your bank or card provider. Chargebacks come with fees and administrative overhead for both sides, and most disputes can be resolved faster by simply talking directly.
If you open a chargeback without first giving us a chance to resolve the issue, we reserve the right to dispute the claim with supporting documentation and, if necessary, suspend any ongoing services until the matter is resolved. Fraudulent chargebacks may be reported and pursued through appropriate legal channels.
Non-Refundable Items
The following are never refundable, regardless of service type:
- Third-party costs we’ve paid on your behalf (domain registrations, premium plugin or theme licenses, SSL certificates, stock photography).
- Payment processor fees where they cannot be recovered.
- Work that has been completed, delivered, and approved.
- Services cancelled after the eligible refund window has closed.
- Malware removal fees once work has started.
- Any service where the client has been abusive, violated our Terms of Service, or engaged in fraudulent activity.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Any changes apply only to purchases made after the update takes effect — your existing agreements are governed by the policy in force when you paid.
